East Fishkill PD Expresses Thanks For Support During 'Darkest Time'
Office Daniel Paul DiDato, age 47, of East Fishkill, died on Monday, Dec. 18, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash while driving to interview witnesses of another accident.
Daniel worked as a patrol officer for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) from 2001-2005. He has served as a police officer for the Town of East Fishkill for the last 19 years. He was the recipient of two lifesaving awards and was a field training officer, his obituary said.
Born in 1976 in the Bronx, in 1985, his family moved to Hopewell Junction. Daniel graduated from John Jay Senior High School in 1994 and from Dutchess Community College in 2001 with an associate degree in Liberal Arts.
He was an avid fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees and was a self-proclaimed food and pizza connoisseur.
Throughout his life, Daniel was an integral member of the community and will be greatly missed, his obituary said.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Edvige (Miniaci) DiDato of Hopewell Junction; his brothers, Robert J. DiDato of East Fishkill and Mark J. DiDato of Fishkill; many cousins; countless friends; and brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium of John Jay Senior High School, 2012 Route 52, Hopewell Junction.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
